A well lit kitchen is only a consultation away!

Lighting Placement

There are a couple of general rules of thumb - size of fixture to size of room; and distance from fixture to surface. ie Chandelier over the table, or recessed lights - height of ceilings to the number of lights needed.

These basic rules can be tailored to each client’s tastes and needs and some examples are shown in the pictures. Just about anything goes when lighting up the interior of your home.

Under Cupboard Lighting

Whenever I’m called in to consult on a kitchen renovation, the first thing I recommend right off the top, is under cupboard lighting. You can have the best made light in the world on your ceiling, but you’ll never have enough light over your counter where you’re working. You’re always going to have shadows without it.

Even in the case of recessed lights at the front of the counter - this application is meant to highlight the cabinets - and when you’ve just spent $10 thousand on them, you WANT them highlighted. But you still won’t have the right light in the right place for working...

There are a variety of good applications for under the cupboard, available in both 12-volt and 120-volt.

Exterior Lighting

Don’t forget the exterior of your house! Outdoor fixtures do alot to enhance the beauty of your exterior walls, as well as provide safety! A variety of lights can be used to achieve the tastes of each client, from wall mounts and post lights, to recessed lights in the soffits.
